Every piece in the boutique is authenticated in-house before it is listed. We do this because the second-hand luxury market is full of forgeries; we do it ourselves because we trust the verdict of our own buyers more than any certificate.
What we check
- Watches — serial against maker's records, movement caliber confirmed under loupe, case proportions, dial print quality, hands, bracelet end-links, papers and warranty card if present.
- Bags — date code or chip, hardware engraving, stitching count and thread tension, lining grain, smell, internal stamps, dust bag and packaging consistency with the period.
- Perfumes — batch code traced to the maker, packaging holograms and seals, weight, juice colour and clarity, sprayer mechanism.
- Clothing & footwear — care labels, country-of-origin tags, stitching, fabric weight, sole texture, brand-specific seasonal markers.
Our authentication team
Our boutique is staffed by buyers with two decades of trade experience between them. For unusual references we cross-check with maker desks and external specialists; for pieces from archive collections we work with the trade's recognised independents. When we are not certain, we do not list.
What we promise
Every piece sold by Fabriqe is guaranteed authentic. If, at any future date, you instruct an independent specialist of reasonable standing in the trade and they conclude that a piece we sold you is not authentic, write to us with their report and we will:
- Refund the full original purchase price in the original currency;
- Reimburse the cost of the independent authentication;
- Arrange complimentary collection of the piece.
This promise has no time limit. It is our most important commitment to clients of the boutique.
Provenance, on request
For pieces above £25,000 we keep a written record of provenance — where we sourced the piece, what we paid, the authentication notes, and any condition observations. We are happy to share the relevant entries with the buyer on request.
