A pre-order is a commitment we accept from you and pass directly to the maker. Most of our boutique is held in stock; pre-orders apply to limited editions, allocated references, and bespoke pieces where production begins after the order is placed. This page explains how pre-orders work and why they are non-refundable.
How pre-orders work
- The product page shows a Pre-Order badge in place of In Stock.
- You place the order and pay in full at checkout.
- Within twenty-four hours, our boutique confirms the order with the maker or allocation desk and locks in your slot.
- We email you a confirmation with the estimated dispatch window — typically four to sixteen weeks, depending on the piece.
- When the piece arrives at our boutique, we authenticate it in-house and dispatch — or arrange by-hand delivery if you are in London.
Why pre-orders are non-refundable
When you place a pre-order, we use your payment to pay our partner — the maker, distributor or allocation desk — within hours of receiving it. That deposit is also non-refundable from their side. Unlike in-stock items, we cannot resell a piece that has been allocated to your name and specification.
This is the cost of accessing pieces that are not otherwise available. We believe in being explicit about it rather than hiding it in our terms.
- The payment is taken in full at checkout and is non-refundable;
- Estimated delivery dates are indicative and may shift if the maker's production schedule does;
- Your right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply, because pre-orders are made-to-order goods within the meaning of regulation 28(1)(b);
- You will receive the piece when production completes — usually within the estimated window, occasionally later.
What happens if a maker fails to deliver
On rare occasions, a maker may discontinue a reference, cancel an allocation, or face a production delay beyond six months from the original estimate. In any of those cases we will:
- Write to you within forty-eight hours of being told;
- Offer a full refund of your pre-order payment, or a transfer to an equivalent piece if one exists.
This is the one circumstance where a pre-order is refundable — when the piece itself cannot be produced.
Damage on arrival
Pre-ordered pieces are authenticated and inspected at our boutique before dispatch. If a piece arrives damaged, our Returns Policy applies in full — you have seventy-two hours to flag with photographs, and we will arrange repair, replacement or refund at your option, including all shipping costs.
Questions before pre-ordering
Pre-orders are large commitments. If you would like a longer conversation before placing one, write to concierge@fabriqe.com with the piece in question and a buyer will call you back.
